So after a hard fought win and an even tougher loss, my team took a lost from a team we should have beaten 2-1, I have started to re-assess our (and more specifically my play). We play too tight, and I am to blame for leading that vibe. I have found it completely different when I play pick up to when I play a competitive game. I over think and play too tight and physical. The problem is, I want to do well for the team but make unfortunate and terrible in game decisions. That being said, acknowledgement of that fact lets me know that unless you are Messi, VanPersie or a host of naturally gifted players, it is more mental than physical in the game. Playing what you know as opposed to allowing others to change how you play based on your own demons is the crux of the challenge. If you can see what is happening and ESTABLISH how you play, the game is yours. It is this challenge that pushes you to improve game over game and find the nirvana of the sport. Easily addressed after the fact but hard to adhere to in the heat of a challenge. I can promise that I will not allow this challenge to go unanswered I will play that way that I know I can and provide the support the team needs. Leadership is sacrosanct. Answer the call and play the game!
