So against all reasonable fibre within my being, I am actually reading about soccer plans, plays and skills.  Why now?  Why try?  Why not? Play and learn, learn and play or something like that.  Kick or be kicked or is that and be kicked?  It is twisted and reality.  What happens when you contradict your instinct?  (aside - read Instinct vs reason by EAP)  What does that have to do with this?  What doesn't it have to do with it?  Old and tired, tired of being old.  Curse this curse.  Just keep playing until...

Another game, and a TIE

Well, we had another one today.  Several shots on goal (4 from me) and an unfortunate non-goal on an "arm enhanced" shot on goal that was NOT whistled on the attempt.  I actually was running up field waiting for the call that didn't come but we missed the opportunity to convert because we ALL expected the call to come... That being said, we played well but were unable to convert.   Afterwards, we all grabbed some brews and talked about the upcoming playoff when we play the #3 seed on Thu.   If we play like we did tonight, we have a CHANCE.  Que Jim Carrey's famous "So, like 1 in 100"  "more like 1 in a MILLION."  "So you're SAYIN THERE'S A CHANCE!!"

Another week and unfortunately another loss for my co-ed team.  The highs and lows of the game are the greatest moments and the most frustrating misses.  Played pick up games 3 times this week.  Scored goals in all of them (including a hat trick on Saturday in a full 11v11 game.  2 of which were left footed shots - I'm right footed.  The best score was an overhead cross sent in to the six yard box that I met with my left on the fly and buried in the net.  Those goals where you connect like that are incredible!)

However, the game today we had a couple of chances before going down 1-0 early in the 1st half.   We re-grouped and I had a single bounce through ball that I was able to run onto.  I was in behind the d but had one closing fast.  Right as I went to strike the ball inside the 18, it bounced and I just got underneath it.  It just cleared the crossbar.  Don't even know why I didn't push it to the corner as I had the keeper beaten.  Where was the finish god on that shot?  I guess he showed his power the day before in the pick up game.  But, be that as it may, I simply did not the finish the shot to pull us even.  Frustrating but not as bad as the game last week.
